Breast Reconstruction Recovery
Following breast reconstruction surgery, patients will experience moderate pain, discomfort, and swelling for several weeks. Patients will be advised to wear a surgical vest or surgery bra following breast reconstruction surgery. Patients will not recover normal sensation in the breast, but may regain some feeling over time. Scars will be red and prominent, and patients may experience mild to moderate itching as the incisions start to heal.
Recovery Elements carries a wide selection of compression garments for use after Breast Reconstruction Surgery. Compression wear is effective in reducing swelling and elimination potentially harmful fluids. The surgery bras will be worn for weeks and sometime months after this type of surgery. Compression garments need to be worn 24 hours a day and fit properly. It is recommended you have 2 available so the garment can be laundered without uninterupted use.
We also carry several medical scar treatments recommended by Plastic Surgeons. Silicone sheeting is an effective treatment of breast scars and we also carry scar gels.
